Samsung TV: 3D LCD technology, LED and Plasma

Samsung TV is preparing to invade the market (we also talk about products from September 2010 onwards) with a new series of TV, which as a link have the novelty of the moment is called 3D (in fact that so it seems a fad, but we know that this is the future of home entertainment and beyond). But Samsung, which is attentive to the needs of users, has also decided to extend the range of its LED range from 3 to well above series 7 series. Samsung is not limited solely to the LED, but it also Plasma and LCD TV technology. As for the “novelty” of 3D investments seem quite important enough to include all production from Samsung.

Indeed in addition to traditional TV, 3 series LED version will be used for production 3D, while for LCD and Plasma, this will only and exclusively in a series. The choice of Samsung drawn regarding the vision of 3D is to make panels which promote the active technology, which is a TV that communicates directly with the eyeglass and possible to close the lens right or left depending on the request by the sending device (and even then we know how active is the best technology in terms of yields but also the most expensive, because of the technology itself that leads to a significant additional cost for the glasses).

Samsung has decided to include within the 3D TV technology that will allow the conversion of traditional 2D images into 3D ones (as for now the content is scarce, that is specifically designed programs and turn to be enjoyed with full 3D viewing ), so you can connect any digital device to our TV to fully enjoy such as watching action movies, football, F1 or all that passion (of course it is not specifically designed the program for viewing stereoscopic effect will not be there as we can imagine). By converting but for now we can avoid buying sources that broadcast in 3D, but the work is performed solely by television.

As for LED technology (Samsung seems to believe in this technology), Samsung was one of the first manufacturers in 2006 produced a backlit LED panel, and then later be the first to use the local dimming. Now since 2009 has staked everything on edge LED technology, introducing three models with local dimming. But why Samsung has decided to follow this path and then to evolve? The local dimming LED provides full direct light coming from the rear, where we are going to act through the leds and then turn off each LED to recreate the scenes of darkness and then the contrast. With edge LED lighting instead lies in the frame, and then the light will be reflected (indirect light) on a plate with micro mirrors Point.

The selection of Samsung is the fact that the edge LED allows reduced power consumption, allows for greater uniformity of coverage (and therefore a greater detail) and aesthetic level allows you to switch panel thickness of only 2 cm and a half. In 2010 Samsung will adopt a new Edge LED technology, which will be called precision edge dimming, which is used by the C8000 series, which allows you to turn off each micro led bar placed on the frame so as to have more contrast and more control over areas of the panel tv. In practice however a challenge to companies those still focus a lot on technology Plasma or who have decided to use and improve technology full led local dimming.

Regarding the viewing of images, Samsung has decided to equip its LED panels and LCD 100Hz or 200Hz technology, to ensure that image quality is better as well as the vision of moving images. This technology allows you to create additional frames of image frames than the original: in practice, each frame will be doubled or tripled (depending on the use 100Hz or 200Hz), that the TV takes several frames, calculates the differences between a frame the other, and we must build the intermediate images, which allow a passage less traumatic and allows images to be more stable and less shaky. The 3D TV will be at all at 200Hz, because due to the double images (one for the right eye and another for the left eye), we need more additional frames to decrease strange effects while watching the program.

The Samsung Plasma instead use 600Hz technology subfield, ie each frame is divided into 12 subfields, and it’s possible in this case a mild and gradual transition from one frame image to another (unlike what happens with LCD and LED is the creation of additional frames or duplication of existing frame). Samsung also for the usual question about research showing that damage to or deny having the prolonged use of TV and glasses for viewing 3D content. Again Samsung confirms that there are no problems with the use of 3D content, but everything is left to common sense, because as you should not watch TV too close (especially with panels of 40 inches and up) or for long hours even 3D must follow these rules.

Regarding the costs of 3D glasses, Samsung has decided to offer the public two product types, one with replaceable battery will be sold at 79 euros, while the second type rechargeable battery, will be proposed instead of 99 euros. Of course when you purchase the TV a couple of glasses will be free, and while the study offered some to propose even a second pair at a reasonable price. As always, technology is always expensive initially a bit ‘more, but hopefully with time, the barriers of costs such as goggles are to be overturned.

The new range Samsung becomes the media center of the house, thanks to the USB port that allows you to connect USB sticks or more mass storage devices, to read this content, which can be a movie encoded with any existing file MP3 music or even a photograph. Thanks also to share the technology (which is nothing but DLNA) we can connect our TV to your home network (using a wireless adapter sold separately) and allow us to share content in our PC in general or in our home network. Regarding internet connectivity here is that Samsung introduces its Internet TV, a proprietary platform for viewing content on the web.

Renewed both in content with regard to the graphical user interface (even more appealing but also a platform even faster), through collaboration with a very large number of local content providers but also foreign (Facebook, Twitter and other social network, YouTube and Italian as Courier Journal, CuboVision Telecom etc.) will give the possibility to have a plethora of custom content, ready for use through the TV at home. As regards the sound however, improvements were also made on the field, but if you want to enjoy high definition images with multichannel sound, must necessarily devote its attention to home theater systems.

Everybody knows we can’t stay with out your Televisions. However our other devices don’t get such undying devotion, despite the fact that they are a big part of our everyday lives. They make the food we eat, clean our clothes, and even wash our dishes. So when one stops working, it is a huge difficulty.
